What We Support

Our church supports a number of missions and programs in Nanaimo, in Canada, and around the world. Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to many nations.

Loaves & Fishes Food Bank
In addition to our weekly depot, we support Nanaimo’s food bank with food and monetary donations.

Crossroads Crisis Pregnancy Center
Crossroads helps women in crisis pregnancies in our community with counselling and supplies through pregnancy and the first two years of the child’s life. We participate in their annual Operation Baby Bottle fundraiser and keep them in our prayers throughout the year.

Nanaimo Lighthouse Ministries
Missionaries board foreign ships arriving in Vancouver Island ports.  During the year they present gifts to the seamen, such as toques, gloves, sweaters, and socks. They also talk to them about the grace of God demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

Youth Unlimited – Paul MacMurchy
Paul began his ministry in Nanaimo in 2013, attending our Community Lunch and reaching out to the high school students. You’ll also see him setting up the street hockey rink in our parking lot.

Cariboo House Ministries
Begun in 1988, this mission seeks to bring the gospel to remote and rural communities in the Cariboo-Chilcotin area of BC.

Presbyterian Sharing
This is the national church fund that supports the mission and ministries we do together in Canada and around the world. Presbyterians are sharing in a wide range of ministries from encouraging and equipping congregational renewal and development, to supporting inner city, native, refugee, urban, remote and chaplaincy ministries in Canada, to sending mission personnel to work with international partners.

Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D)
The development and relief agency of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.  PWS&D has a wide variety of programs that work to help communities overcome poverty, recover from emergency situations and provide new futures of hope for vulnerable people.

Francisco Coll School, Guatemala
Located near a garbage dump in the heart of Guatemala City, the school sits at the outskirts of society. Families eke out a living by scavenging at the dump. Education will bring their children a brighter future. We have supported a teacher at the school for many years. www.presbyterian.ca/pwsd-news/francisco-coll-student-teacher
