In 1994, Pope John Paul II unveiled the fully restored ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. For nearly 500 years, soot and candle wax had dimmed Michelangelo’s masterpiece. When the layers of grime were finally removed, the colours burst to life—revealing details and brilliance long hidden, and giving the world a new appreciation for the artist’s intent and genius.
I caught a glimpse of what that “before” must have looked like when I attended mass at the Armenian Church of St. James in Jerusalem’s Old City. The paintings there were still cloaked in centuries of soot—beautiful, but muted, their glory veiled by darkness built up over time.
Revelation gives us a similar vision. It tells us that God is restoring humanity and all creation. Sin has layered over the beauty God intended, obscuring His image in us and dulling the splendour of the world. Yet, with the patience of a master restorer, God is carefully, steadily making all things new.
This week, as we near the end of our series, we turn to Revelation 21: Creation Renewed—a glimpse of what happens when the grime is finally gone and the beauty of God’s design shines through once again.
I invite you to spend time with this week’s passage, and then join us—whether in person or online—as we’re reminded of God’s great renewing work.
With you in Christ,
Jeremy

Mission Moment: November 2nd 2025
In a small village in Nepal, 25 people gathered to form the Pipalchautari Self-Help Group (SHG). With support from PWS&D and a local partner, the group began working to strengthen their community and improve safety from issues like wildfires and landslides. When group member Darpana’s home caught fire, everything was lost. However, the SHG was prepared to deal with the emergency. After the fire, they held an emergency meeting and were able to provide her with food supplies they had stockpiled as part of their emergency planning. This support helped Darpana and her family start over. “I’m very thankful to all the group members for helping me during my hardest time,” Darpana shares. “This support demonstrated the power of unity.”
